Through no small amount of effort, I have managed to compile an encyclopedia of the critters that call Terran home. Take a look! The lineart-only illustrations in gold are free to use assets from Pixabay. We aim to eventually have a visual reference for every animal on this page, but given the amount of work it will take, some have placeholder images in the meantime.

Tlasyn Firelands
AnimalTerritorial
A territorial bird prone to diving onto the heads of unsuspecting intruders, now altered by strange magic from the Galterel Archipelago.
Just about anywhere!
FamiliarFriendly
This hardworking friend happily shares its honey with you.
Toneru Forests
MonsterTerritorial
While the Screamer leads a solitary life, when threatened or defending its territory it first tries to drive the threat away by expanding its wings in a flash of white and letting out a piercing and warbling shriek. Should this warning not deter the instigator, the Clawed Screamer lunges forward in a loping charge far faster than one would assume of its size. Three saber-like claws tipping its wings - mainly used for prying bark from the surrounding trees in search for grubs - become deadly weapons. Its blunt beak delivers a powerful bite, easily capable of crushing bone.
Drakhan
AnimalFriendly
These butterflies have wings that resemble frosted snowflakes - and just like a snowflake, each butterfly has a slightly different shape 'cut out' in their wings! They flit ethereally through the air in large swarms and have a special proboscis that allows them to drill through frozen bark and consume the sap beneath.

Native to Sarthia
FamiliarTerritorial
A robust wolf that makes its home in the dense underbrush of Sarthia.
Anghor Thom Underground
FamiliarFriendly
These peculiar critters can be seen hopping around the entrance to Anghor Thom's underground labyrinth. Whether they're a strange attempt at replicating Terran's fauna or a sudden passion project, Rotamund seems oddly fond of them.

???
Void CreatureDevourer
A massive Void Reaper released into Terran's seas in 323 A.C. after a mishap in an archipelago off the coast of Ashki. Its current location is unknown, though some fishermen around Ashki and Toneru have reported seeing strange shadows writhing in the depths...
Inoran Fields
MonsterFriendly
Generally found wandering the plains of Inor, the Lumbering Shoveller is a generally benign - but stubborn - creature, with their huge size affording them few predators. They have a very keen sense of smell which is used to pinpoint tubers and fungi that grow beneath the ground. Unfortunately their nose also tends to lead them to the easily accessible farms that dot the land, as well as merchant caravans that carry food for trade. A single Shoveller can wipe out an entire summer's worth of food stores, and so pungent bait is used to lead the Shoveller away from precious supplies.
Urus Lakes
MonsterTerritorial
A large beast native to the mountain lakes of Urus, the plated sixwings is a dangerous predator that uses its keen eyesight to pinpoint its prey. While the sixwings is a large beast, its 3 pairs of relatively small wings do allow it to obtain some semblance of flight, though it cannot fly high for very long and tends to stay close to the ground. Its feet are specially adapted to repel water and thus they can be found 'skating' along the surface of lakes and rivers, using their wings to provide lift and forward momentum. It rests its wings by using its momentum to 'ski' along the surface of the water, only flapping again once its speed is depleted.
Coastal Areas
MonsterAggressive
It seems the only people and Niravar who are fond of these creatures are poets and artists, who can often be seen observing the waters from a safe distance in hopes of catching a glimpse of this amphibian's lustrous scales. In the eyes of anyone actually living close to the water, however, the Sens are a menace; their years of living alongside Niravar and human settlements left them with an unfortunate habit of leaping onto the docks and beaches in search for easily obtainable food, and their size makes the creatures incredibly difficult to fend off.
Sarthian Jungle
MonsterNeutral
A big insect with a craving for sweet things, the Giant Stiltbug is naturally found in the jungles of Sarthia where their shiny green chitin hides them in the dappled rainforests. While typically peaceful, the stiltbugs use their immense size to their advantage, delivering a powerful kick to anything that encroaches on their personal space. The long claws on the ends of their front legs are intimidating, but they are solely used for grooming the stiltbug's long flexible proboscosis. The patterns on their tiny wings vary between sub-species, but all use them to communicate with other stiltbugs or to scare off potential threats.
Voxis Grotto
AnimalNeutral
One head can't squawk at itself, but two can! This dual-headed bird has been altered by strange magic from the Galterel Archipelago.
Kirlisle Glittereef
AnimalNeutral
A robust wolf that makes its home in the dense underbrush of Sarthia, now altered by strange magic from the Galterel Archipelago.
Drakhan
AnimalFriendly
An elusive draconic familiar with ties to the icy reaches of Drakhan.
Maktara, Djama
MonsterTerritorial
The Banded Meodian is a vicious predator native to Maktara. It uses its powerful legs and wings to burrow into the sand, waiting to ambush anything that causes even the slightest of tremors in its vicinity. Any who are unfortunate enough to alert the Meodian must dodge its razor-sharp beak if they are to survive. At night, the Meodians come out to search for water. They move across the desert by folding their legs along the sides of their bodies and using their wings to propel themselves forward, effectively gliding over the sand.
Inoran Fields
FamiliarFriendly
This peculiar variety of shoveller grows to but a fraction of a usual specimen's size, allowing for the creatures to be less of a threat to Inoran farmers. As a result, many have taken to attempting to domesticate these small animals as their digging, when done on such a small scale, helps the farmers immeasurably.
Drakhan Wilderness AnimalNeutral
This medium sized plump snowy bird has plumage that resembles the rocky crags it roosts in. They tend to travel in large groups and can be found huddling together in whatever crevice keeps them out of the biting wind.
Drakhan Wilderness MonsterAggressive
This large hulking bear is covered in a thick pelt of white fur. Thick shards of ice appear along its shoulders and arch down its back.
Drakhan Wilderness AnimalNeutral
This curious, sociable critter consumes insects and larvae hidden beneath the snow. Its scaled snout lets it stick its head through the thick layer of frost coating Drakhan's wilderness without feeling the cold.
Drakhan Wilderness
AnimalNeutral
These tiny creatures love relaxing in the warm waters of Drakhan's Sanguine Sward. They're always ready to roll up into a ball and roll down the nearest hill to escape danger.
Native to Maktara
FamiliarFriendly
The widespread popularization of Bug Racing has brought the sport to even the most inhospitable corners Terran has to offer. The residents of Maktara, for one, realized upon attempting their first races that their homeland has the perfect bug for this activity - the radiant scarab. Since then, scarabs have been kept as treasured pets and taken exceptionally good care of. Their vivid blue shell is thought to be a sign of them being blessed by the Ocean itself.
Anghor Thom Underground
ConstructNeutral
Deep beneath Anghor Thom sits a labyrinth of metal chambers lined with pipes, levers and cogs. Rotamund the Tinkerer sits at the heart of it, creating constructs unlike any seen on Terran – machines that, on top of being capable of independent movement, are also sentient. Many have tried to replicate these constructs, but all attempts at doing so have failed miserably. The automatons roaming the mechanical labyrinth are docile... unless provoked.
Open saltwater
AnimalNeutral
This species of jellyfish got its name from its ability to briefly spring forth from among the waves to escape predators. Marvelous – unless your boat is small enough to put you at risk of being stung. The jellyfish's sting, while not lethal, hurts quite a bit after all.
Seaside Docks
AnimalFriendly
These cats can be found all over Terran's docks. They hunt the rats and mice that call the city home, and can often be found aboard ships also - be it intentionally or through a bit of clever sneaking around.
Freshwater Streams/Rivers
AnimalTerritorial
Though relatively small in size, this reptile is a fierce predator that regularly threatens any and all who dare brave the waters of Djama's only river. Capable of releasing small, controlled bursts of magic to propel themselves through the water, wavestriders are swift to close the distance between themselves and any threat or prey they might come across. On land, they are still slow enough for the average Niravar to outrun them, but any who are unfortunate enough to find themselves in the water with a pack of these critters should be prepared for a savage, dangerous fight.
Southwestern Djama FamiliarNeutral
To many residents of Djama, the tell-tale sounds of an argument between a twocan's two head are a sound of home. These clever birds can be found on the bank of the Dalpon Canal, sitting in the trees and hopping around on the roofs of houses, and are surprisingly amicable towards Niravar and humans alike. They come in a variety of patterns, and some Niravar have even befriended them enough for the birds to accompany them on their travels.
Djama
AnimalNeutral
These small, nocturnal lizards can be found all across Djama. Primarily, however, one may encounter them in Djama's cities, where the residents make little homes for them in their windows. At night, the venitens can be found sitting on the windowsills, on the lookout for insects to catch.
Drakhan Wilderness MonsterAggressive
This huge white-scaled snake shimmers with iridescence due to its semi-translucent scales. It tends to hide in deep snow drifts until its prey stumbles by.
Drakhan Wilderness AnimalTerritorial
The white cloak covering this creature's back allows it to blend in seamlessly with Drakhan's snowy landscape. Though predominantly herbivorous, Cindertreads are known to switch to a carnivorous diet in the colder months of the year. Their bodies are charged with Energy magic, and they can breathe fire as a result, making them a formidable predator in Drakhan's wilderness.
Anywhere...
Void CreatureDevourer
Standard Void Reapers are the larger cousins of lesser Void Reapers. They are just as quick but much more powerful than lesser Void Reapers and even just one is a significant threat. Standard Void Reapers can often be found surrounded by a pack of lesser Void Reapers and should be avoided by all but the most experienced Niravar warriors or adventurers. Like all Void Reapers their blood is thick and toxic and great care should be taken when engaging them in physical combat.
Anywhere...
Void CreatureDevourer
Colloquially referred to as a 'Prickle Chicken,' the smallest of the Void Reapers is still very much a threat to the unprepared. Lesser Void Reapers often travel in packs of five or more and use their numbers to overwhelm their prey. However, should they sense the tide of the battle is turning against them, they are quick to flee. Like all Void Reapers their blood is thick and toxic and great care should be taken when engaging them in physical combat. On average, lesser Void Reapers are 3 feet at the shoulder.
Arcane Illusion
FamiliarFriendly
A cleverly crafted illusion of a Void Reaper to accompany a Niravar wherever they go. This critter is completely harmless and comes in two different color varieties.
No sky is safe!
FamiliarTerritorial
A territorial bird prone to diving onto the heads of unsuspecting intruders.
Behind you?
MonsterAggressive
A Niravar's passing is often quick and filled with wonderful, vivid light as the energy that made up their body seeks to return to the Aether. However, sometimes a Niravar's desire to delay their departure is so great that a small part of them remains rooted in Terran, unwilling to leave. This rogue energy manifests as a wrathful spirit that possesses its former skin to tend to the Niravar's unfinished business. While extremely rare under normal circumstances, Shredskins have been sighted on battlefields or in other places where death is rampant and common.
