Isiar
|
Isiar never fully recovered from the Cataclysm and remains a blackened, corrupted wasteland. Many of the Aether Pools in this region have turned into Void Pools and continue to spit out Void Reapers. Much of the landscape that used to be forest is now half-dead and corrupted beyond recognition. Strange, oily, black plants grow here and many of the fauna that are not Void Reapers have become black and spiny as well. There are no permanent residents of Isiar - just a few Warden outposts from which the Wardens continue to fight against the Reapers in the hopes of reclaiming and purifying Isiar. There are rumored to be ruins and treasures of the old world hidden away in Isiar under the tangles of oily vines and ravenous Reapers.
InformationIsiar is an inhospitable wasteland filled with lethal, unrelenting fauna and dense flora that increases the risk of getting lost in the forests tenfold. No Niravar are known to live in the area, though Wardens sometimes organize expeditions to the region to secure the border and prevent the corruption from spreading. And, rarely, someone foolish enough to brave the wilderness will venture into the woods in search of treasure. They rarely come back. The majority of Isiar consists of a blackened tangle of trees and rock formations. The land is dotted with corrupted Pools, filled with a dark, inky substance that spawns large quantities of Void Reapers. The animals in the region have likewise become corrupted, and are often coated in a similar dark substance. The trees move and shift, and their vines are covered in sharp thorns. The plants are poisonous, and the few ponds of regular water that remain in the region are dark and murky. Bup is the only remaining settlement in the region. Nearly 50 years ago, the town's Aether Pool became a Void Pool, and something went wrong during the cleansing ritual that the Wardens rushed to perform. Instead of the pool being purified, it simply vanished, leaving a massive, empty pit in the center of the town. Most of the settlement is now overgrown as nature has begun to reclaim it, but animals and plants alike steer clear of the empty Pool in the town square. |
